FIRST GOAL: 4th December 2005 v Apollo

100 REACHED: 8th March 2009 v Village United

Michael Nolan - along with David Duggan - becomes the first player in Downhills Park history to play 100 games for the club.

"Noley" as he's known by his team mates was made captain of Downhills Park by Kevin Lacle during the 2007/2008 season and has kept the armband ever since. Up until recently he was the youngest player in the squad, so it says a lot about the man that he could lead his elders every Sunday morning.

Nolan had a problem when he first joined Downhills Park at the beginning. His problem was one that has plagued many a player in the past. Quite simply, he was too good in too many positions! As a result, he played left back, right back, right wing, left wing and central midfield and it was the latter position that he would make his own.

Nolan is one of the louder members of the Downhills dressing room and Barry MacDonald pointed it out when asked about his club captain. "One of the few people who i've met who run's his mouth so much but backs it up as well."

The youngsters partying is legendary and he would have been making his 100th appearence for the club earlier, had he not woken up in Amsterdam a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning, unsure of how he got there. Lanfranco Gaglione mentioned his drinking when asked about the midfielder. "If Nolan loved his football as much as he loves his drinking then he'd be more Messi rather than Messy on Sundays!"

Nolan’s century of games has seen two promotions, a final and seven goals. For me, he's everything you could ask for in a player. Freakily fit, he'll run all day every day. He loves a challenge, has speed, power and a serious amount of skill and as Emmanuel Osei-Bonsu said "he can only get better."

Over the four years he's played in green, Nolan has always seemed to be battling a certain individual for the central midfield spot and it's ironic that his partner in his 100th game is that person. Former captain Giancarlo Gaglione was full of praise for his now skipper, "He's really matured and has grown in responsibility since taking the captaincy, he's got a great work-rate." The work-rate is mentioned by absolutely everyone who I asked to say a word of two on him. Michael Coombs, the 05/06 players player of the year described him as "Mr Engine Room, Mr Utility, Mr UFC."

His Mr UFC tag due to his love of mixed martial arts and it was this passion that infamously spilled over in training a couple of years back when he "clashed" with team mate Geoffrey Wright.

Michael Nolan's 100 games have been full of energy and skill. His next 100 will be exactly the game, I'm absolutely sure of it.
